Mountain Dusk at RKArtGallery
The latest offering at the art gallery was inspired by trip down the mountain as the sun was setting.
To paint abstractly with light, I use a camera in motion, so that light races over the digital chip, producing streaks of color and movement, building up abstract images that resemble nothing of what I actually saw at the moment. It's using photography, a realistic art form, to find in the view what wasn't there -- not shapes or faces or even colors, but what may surprise.
Obscurities + Obsessions
Question of the day: Where Would You Go If You Could Roll Back the Universe?
I would like to believe that life, more than anything, is about brain and heart, impressing my imagination and raising the adrenalin levels, pumping endorphins around my system, like coffee, only much, much hotter, because it pushes me beyond jitters. If I could roll back my life, my universe, I would want to burn away the flack, the crap moldering my vision and so that I could clearly see the road ahead. I want to see my light waves breaking free of my own gravity, where my own limitations fall behind, where I finally step beyond failures to realize dreams.
Autotomy
At the end of 2007, I left the normal work world and embarked on a journey that included international travel, but it also turned into an experiment in minimalist living, which for me means only having what I need to do the things I really want to do. I took as my motto a line from an episode of the X Files television show about a guy named Max. Paraphrased, the line goes: a spartan life, simple in its creature comforts, allows for the complexity of your passions. In other words, if you cut the clutter, you have more space and energy for the most meaningful endeavors.
The experiment hasn't always worked well, but you can read about the adventures at the Autotomy blog.
